What’s your favorite memory of working at Gilda’s Club?
It’s hard to pick a favorite, because I have meaningful, cherished encounters with our members every day. This year’s Art of Resilience opening was four hours of non-stop elation at seeing our community show up to support and celebrate each other.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
People allow me to be with them while they are processing difficult, intimate things, and that is an honor. Making art with someone is in-the-moment and life affirming. It’s my favorite thing to do.
What’s your go-to coffee order (or favorite drink to start the day)?
Dirty soy chai
Do you have a hidden talent? If so, what is it?
I am pretty good at curing hiccups.
If someone walked into the office, what is the topic of conversation your are leading?
If it’s not about wanting to change the punitive approach of seeking justice in this country, I hope it has something to do with puppets. I am learning to make puppets.
It’s lunch time, what are you eating?
Vegan pad thai, super spicy hot.
What’s your favorite way to unwind after a long day?
Shoes off, pants off, sitting with Tim and our 3 cats watching Antiques Roadshow.
Do you have pets?
Three cats: Hamish, Ammut, and Glenda
If you could pick up a new skill or hobby instantly, what would it be?
I would like to be able to sing or play violin well.
What’s your favorite Chicago neighborhood or burb?
Rogers Park
Who is in your family?
Spouse is Time and we live with three cats
Are you a life-long Chicagoan or are you a transplant? If a transplant, from where?
I have been transplanted from Aukland, New Zealand in 2009, but was born in the US. Before 2001 I lived in a few different states; Tennessee, Iowa, Ohio, Colorado, and California.
