Bereavement Weekly Support Group

Gilda’s Club Chicago weekly support groups are facilitated by a licensed mental health professional trained in our supportive framework. These adult-only groups are for those living with cancer (of any diagnosis and stage of treatment), those who are a caregiver or loved one, or those coping with the death of a loved one from cancer.

Weekly support groups are reserved for those who have completed a Customized Membership Plan and are committed to being in a group for at least twelve weeks. If you are a member and are interested in learning more about a weekly group, please email [email protected]. If you are not yet a member and would like to learn more about Gilda’s Club Chicago and our weekly support groups, please register for a Beyond the Red Door: Orientation. These take place every Tuesday and can be found on the calendar.

Black Women of Ethnicities Group

Please join the monthly Black Women of Ethnicities Group to meet with women who collaborate and empower one another while discussing challenges such as facing gender discrimination, bias within environments, compounding obstacles of racism, and building relationships, all through the impact of cancer diagnosis.

Breast Cancer Monthly Support Group

Please join this monthly group for a supportive discussion and education regarding living with breast cancer. Those supporting a loved one with breast cancer are welcome. This group is co-facilitated by a licensed mental health practitioner and an oncology nurse navigator.

Cancer Survivors Monthly Support Group

Cancer Survivors Monthly Support Group is a time for those who have completed their cancer treatment to connect and share experiences about life post-treatment. This group is open to those with any cancer diagnosis.

This supportive monthly group is for anyone caring for a loved one who is living with cancer.

Please join the GI Cancer Monthly Support Group for a supportive discussion and education regarding living with gastrointestinal (colorectal, gastric, liver, pancreas, cholangiocarcinoma, gallbladder and other GI-related) cancer. Those supporting a loved one with GI cancer are also welcome. This group is co-facilitated by a licensed mental health practitioner and an oncology nurse navigator.

Please join this supportive monthly group for all those who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, pansexual, nonbinary, genderqueer, etc.) and have been impacted by cancer –  including those who are living with cancer, family members and friends.

This men’s only group is for those who are living with cancer or have a loved one living with cancer. Topics may include cancer and wellness, sports and movies and anything in between.

Metatastic Breast Cancer Monthly Support Group

Please join the Metastatic Breast Cancer Monthly Support Group for a supportive discussion regarding living with metastatic breast cancer. This is a time to meaningfully connect with others and share helpful information. This group is held in partnership with the Young Survival Coalition.

Prostate Cancer Monthly Support Group

Please join this monthly group for a supportive discussion regarding living with prostate cancer. Topics discussed may include treatment options, quality of life, incontinence, intimacy concerns, fear of recurrence and more. Those supporting a loved one with prostate cancer are also welcome. This group is held in partnership with the UsTOO Prostate Cancer Education & Support Network.

Our support groups are open to those who have cancer themselves and those supporting a loved one with cancer. While we are virtual these groups are not limited by hospital listing, you are welcome to attend all applicable groups.

All Gilda’s Club Chicago Support Groups are intended for adults. By registering, you are affirming you are 18 years old or over. Please contact a program staff member by calling 312-464-9900 with any questions.

If you plan to attend any of our activities, it is best to check our calendar for the most updated information and to register. Virtual programming requires registration on our website, preferably at least 24 hours in advance. In-person programming that requires a reservation, will be noted on the website calendar. For these programs, please complete the online RSVP or call the Clubhouse to sign up at least 24 hours in advance. Please note that if less than 5 people are registered 24 hours in advance, the program may be canceled.
