Please join the women of Kids in the Kitchen in making fun, easy and healthy recipes via Zoom! All recipes will feature seasonal fruits and veggies and be appropriate for kids of all ages - no oven or stovetop use will be needed. The recipes will be provided in advance so you can have the ingredients ready at home and follow along with our cooking demonstrators, or you can simply watch and enjoy. Kids in the Kitchen will also be going over fun facts about the seasonal fruits and veggies being used in the recipes - everything from nutrition to how to best pick, store and grow the ingredient to trivia involving the ingredient. We hope to see you online in the kitchen!

Orange and Avocado Salad

Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cilantro
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • ¼ cup lime juice
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 large oranges
  • ~8 cups salad greens
  • 1 avocado
  • 1 small red onion

Black Bean Smothered Sweet Potatoes

Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes
  • 1 15 oz. can black beans
  • 1 medium tomato
  • 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon ground coriander
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro (optional)

“Snow” Cups

Serves 1

  • 1/2 cup of plain yogurt (could use greek yogurt, plain yogurt, or any other kind; also could use vanilla pudding, depending on preference and availability)
  • 2-3 Oreos (or other type of cookie) 
  • 1 tsp Honey
  • ¼ cup blueberries or other fruit
  • 1 banana
