Thriving Through Cancer, An Art of Resilience Presentation

June 28, 2022 | 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Traci Asher is 1 Cancer Patient who is living and thriving after stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. 1 Cancer Patient is a photographic series that chronicles Traci’s eight-year journey. With strength, beauty and humor, the struggles of surgeries, hair loss, treatment and everyday life are presented through raw imagery. The images are even more profound and personal when you consider Traci’s father, Warren Perlstein, photographed most of the images presented. Come join Traci and Warren as they discuss the creation of the 1 Cancer Patient photo exhibit. Traci and Warren will share how a sudden but seemingly terrible moment – for both a daughter and a father – can become a passion project with a healing purpose.

Sophie Canade, ATR-R, Art Coordinator at Gilda’s Club Chicago will expand upon Traci and Warren’s presentation with a discussion of the role that art can have in helping patients and caregivers survive and thrive beyond their diagnosis.

This program is presented in partnership with Advocate Aurora Health.
