Kid Support

Kid Support is a 10 week series of peer support groups for children ages 4-12 who are living with cancer or have a family member or friend living with cancer.  The group provides a safe space for kids to talk about their experience while they develop coping skills in the areas of communication, relaxation and understanding difficult feelings.  A one-time Parent Orientation is required.

Kid's Bereavement

Kid's Bereavement is a 10 week series of peer support groups for children ages 4-12 who have experienced the cancer-related death of a family member or friend.  The group focuses on coping and expressing difficult feelings. A one-time Parent Orientation is required.

Kids Connecting 

This acts as a monthly drop-in group for kids livng with cancer themselves or who have a family member or friend licing with cancer. This is held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. 

Parenting Through Cancer Networking Group

This networking group is open to parents of children under 18 and is designed to help parents who have cancer themselves, have a partner or child living with cancer, or are parenting through the death of a loved one.  This networking group is held in conjunction with Kid Support and Kid’s Bereavement.

Kids Camp

Don't miss out on this year's summer day camp! Past activities have included improv, art, games and visits to the Children Museum and Lincoln Park Zoo.
Camp registration closes when the 40th camper submits their completed paperwork. This is first come, first served.  Due to capacity limitations we will not be able to make exceptions for more than 40 campers this year.  

Registration will be available online at the end of February or early March!

Family Arts & Crafts

This is a fun-filled Saturday afternoon of arts and crafts with snacks provided.  This is offered in partnership with the Junior League’s Connecting Kids to the Arts program. This will generally be on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month.


Our annual Halloween party for children, teens and their families includes Halloween-themed activities, crafts and food.  Come in costume!

Holiday Party for Kids

Our annual multi-cultural holiday party for children and their families includes activities, crafts and food.

GCC @ School

A school-based cancer education and support program for children and adolescents with cancer or cancer in their family.

Frankly Speaking to Kids about Cancer

Cancer affects a family in many ways. This presentation includes age-appropriate ways to talk with children about cancer, some common behaviors you may see and ways to support your family thorugh the experience. This presentation is offered several times throughout the year.


To help us plan ahead, please make a reservation for any program at least 24 hours in advance by calling 312-464-9900 or submitting a reservation on our online calendar. 

Supervised Play for Kids

We’re happy to entertain kids during our programs, but we need to know you’re coming. Please call 312-464-9900 at least 72 hours in advance with your children’s names and ages so we can have a Noogieland volunteer available for Supervised Play.

Enhancing Connections Parenting Group

• 5 Group Sessions
• Parents with children ages 5-17 are eligible

The Enhancing Connections Group assists parents in learning helpful skills when talking to their kids about their cancer diagnosis. The focus of the group is to build upon the relationship between the parent and child to decrease feelings of stress for both of them.  Some members of the group may be eligible to participate in an adjoining study funded by the National Cancer Institute.  Contact Rachel Kennedy, LCPC at rachelkennedy@gildasclubchicago.org or call 312-464-9900 x130.
