GCC @ School: Cancer Support for the Classroom

September 10, 2021

GCC @ School is a school-based educational and support program customized for students in elementary, middle school and high school. Each curriculum is designed to provide a supportive classroom environment, to complement grade level learning, and to be tailored for any classroom situation.

Our goal is to foster peer support through understanding of a cancer diagnosis and its impact on the classroom. Classrooms will participate in activities that give students the ability to express their feelings about cancer. Discussions focus on daily issues faced by students who have a loved one with cancer or who are living with a cancer diagnosis themselves. Students work together to identify ways to help.

For those educators looking to enhance their health and wellness curriculum, we can deliver a general presentation on cancer education and support geared towards all audiences. Gilda’s Club Chicago can also deliver in-service programs for parents and faculty.

In addition to in-person presentations, [email protected] is now being offered virtually via Zoom or your preferred platform.
