6:00pm Breath Control (Pranayama) Workshop

6:00pm - 7:00pm

Join our distinguished, long-time Gilda's Club yoga instructor, Mary Klonowski, for a virtual, synchronous workshop on Yogic breathing techniques. The objective of this hour-long workshop is to introduce simple breathing exercises that can be practiced regularly to calm your mind and lift your spirits. Breath control is a powerful practice. When first learning, it is good to have an experienced guide to help you navigate the techiques.

We will start with simple exercises to develop a passive, observational state of mind. From there we will practice a calming breath to sooth the nervous system and invigorate your spirit. Then we will practice breathing exercises that relax that brain and suspend thought activity. Lastly, we will learn to direct the breath to various areas of the body that might need awakening, or to release tension.

The breath connects the mind and the body. Come and learn techniques you can practice at home for maximum benefits.

These exercises may be done sitting upright in a chair or from a lying down position on the floor.

The props you will need are two folded blankets or a yoga bolster (or couch cushion) and a blanket.

Registration is now full. If you would like to register for our waitlist please RSVP. We will contact you if there are any open spots.
