2:00pm Book Support

6.24.2021
2:00pm - 3:00pm

Let's make June our month of Yes! You can start by joining Book Support in reading Shonda Rhimes' book Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand in the Sun and Be Your Own Person.

As a child growing up in Chicago, Illinois, Rhimes' favorite hobby was playing pretend, which in her case meant hiding away in her mother's pantry to invent stories and characters for all the non-perishable food items... Young Shonda was introverted - shy, yet deeply creative. Even as a successful adult, Rhimes defaulted to turning down all manner of invitation. When her publicist helped her realize all of the opportunities she was not taking, something clicked, and Rhimes resolved to stop watching the world go by. She decided to make changes in not just one, but several aspects of her life. Rhimes' role as a mother, her health, her confidence, her self-love - all would get a makeover. Rhimes decided that in order to truly tackle what scared her in life, she would have to spend a whole year facing and embracing her fears. 2015 became Rhimes' year of yes.
