Fundraising events focused on cancer support
CHICAGO (July 1, 2017) – Gilda’s Club Chicago is pleased to announce a new partnership with Friends of Marlene.  This new partnership supports the free programs for men, women, teens and children which Gilda’s Club Chicago creates for anyone impacted by any type of cancer, and their family and friends.
Since their founding in 2010, Friends of Marlene has raised more than $500,000 for the Supportive Oncology program of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University in memory of Marlene Hetzel Palmerson.  Friends of Marlene will now expand their reach by raising funds to benefit Gilda’s Club programs for cancer patients with need of supportive services.  This fundraising will continue to benefit cancer patients at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and add other Gilda’s Club participants.
Marlene was a legendary figure in the meetings and hospitality community and her passion is reflected in the Friends of Marlene Committee, which is comprised of many leaders in that industry.
“Marlene was an amazing woman with a big heart and a wonderful sense of humor. She would be very pleased about our new partnership with Gilda’s Club Chicago, a group inspired by a wonderful woman, Gilda Radner,” stated Francine Pepitone, Friends of Marlene Committee Chair and Vice President Business Development, Inner Workings, Inc.
LauraJane Hyde, CEO of Gilda’s Club Chicago added, “We are so honored to have Friends of Marlene join us in our mission to ensure that anyone impacted by cancer is empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community.”
