MonTgomery Street releases first original CD with launch party to benefit Gilda’s club chicago
CHICAGO (August 8, 2002) – Local band Montgomery Street, which is headed up by Russ Salzman, President and CEO of the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association, is celebrating the release of their first CD with a launch party to benefit Gilda’s Club Chicago. The launch party is being held on Friday, August 16 from 8-10pm onboard First Lady, one of Chicago’s party boats, and tickets cost $35 with proceeds benefiting Gilda’s Club.
Russ Salzman said, “We’re a Chicago band born and bred and with the release of our first CD we wanted to benefit a Chicago charity. Gilda’s Club Chicago is an outstanding organization that supports people living with cancer and we hope that people will come along to our benefit evening to support them, as well as enjoying the sounds of Montgomery Street. We play a range of music and there’s something for everyone!”
Montgomery Street, comprised of five band members, got together in 1996 and has played throughout Chicago at events ranging from Taste of Chicago, a benefit for Holy Name Cathedral to the Governor’s Conference on Tourism at Navy Pier. Earlier this year they represented the city of Chicago at the ITB conference in Berlin, Germany. They have also served as Roe and Gary’s WLS-AM 890 radio show house band for their traveling broadcast. The band plays the best rock cover tunes of the past 30 years, including contemporary hits, from The Beatles to The Bodeens. The CD features ten original songs, several of which highlight the band’s love of Chicago, including Chicago Soul and Music Everywhere.
