One thing that makes Gilda's Club Chicago such a special community is the enthusiasm and commitment of our volunteers and supporters. We value their contributions of time, creativity, professional skills, compassion and fun! And we depend on their energy and enthusiasm for many of our activities. Join us and get involved!

Another thing that makes Gilda's Club Chicago special is that membership is free of charge to people living with cancer.  Gilda's Club is a not-for-profit organization supported by donations from individuals, corporations and foundations.  In order to sustain our unique program, Gilda's Club Board members, staff and volunteers work hard to build a financial foundation that allows us to offer our free program to members.  In keeping with our philosophy Gilda's Club does not solicit our membership for donations, although if interested, we welcome member participation.  If you, or someone you know, would like to be kept informed about Gilda's Club special events, donation opportunities or other ways to support us, please contact Stephen Majsak stephenmajsak@gildasclubchicago.org.

The Associate Board of Gilda's Club Chicago

The Associate Board of Gilda's Club Chicago was formed for the purpose of supporting the mission of Gilda's Club Chicago through fundraising and public relations.  The mission of Gilda's Club Chicago is to provide a meeting place where people with cancer, families and friends, join with others to build social and emotional support as a supplement to medical care.

The Board is currently comprised of 80 dedicated individuals from the Chicagoland area.  Board members participate in many different ways, such as planning fundraising events, securing publicity and promoting awareness of the organization, and in a variety of other roles as they develop the board.  The Associate Board hosts several networking and fundraising events that are open to all.

If you are interested in becoming a member of Gilda's Club Chicago Associate Board, and/or would like to receive notification of upcoming events, please contact Nadia Garcia, at 312.464.9900 ext 31. To read more about the Associate Board, click here.

Our volunteers are people who care and want to make a difference. We have a wide variety of opportunities. If you feel you have special skills that could enhance our community, let us know. We are always looking for ways to expand our programs to serve our members.

Each month we offer a volunteer orientation session. Please see our Calendar for the day and time of the next session.  Volunteers are asked to make a personal commitment of two volunteer shifts per month. Volunteer shifts are flexible. Choose days, evenings or Saturdays - whatever fits your schedule!

If you would like to become a volunteer, please contact Nadia Garcia, Events Manager, at 312.464.9900, ext 31.

We welcome support from health care professionals to facilitate support groups and provide information to our cancer-specific networking groups. Lectures, from experts in their field on cancer-related topics, are always welcome additions to our program.

In addition, certified professionals are needed for workshops, lectures and other events. Such professionals include exercise therapists, meditation and yoga instructors, nutritionists and other experts.

To share your skills, please contact Nadia Garcia, at 312.464.9900.

If you know of a potential event or community, please contact our Director of Special Initaitives, Kathleen Boss at 312.464.9900.
